Holiday farmhouse and the rustic civilization
story
The holiday farmhouse, built in 1600, was given to the religious
association of Maria Santissima del Rosario on the 27 th of May 1707,
held by don Vincenzo Piccoli. After 1870, the property of the Church
shifted to the State and was made on sale. They became property of the
family between 1875 and 1883 and they are the same nowadays. In the
year 2003 the restoration of the building has began and it has
finished in 2005.
The restoration has been made by paying attention to the original
shape and by caring of the materials: chestnut-wood attics and a roof
made of original earthenware tiles.
Casone Holiday Farmhouse wants to represent and make possible living
today rustic civilization ancient traditions.
Often, holiday farmhouse are a form of big agricultural business.
Casone Holiday Farmhouse born as a small rustic property, where the
farmer survives thanks to few animals, the rearing of vines, olives,
fruit trees, vegetables and cereals that are absolutely necessary to
the family.
Since several centuries we use to practice this original and primitive
technique of agriculture, in an unspoilt environment full of colours,
perfumes and wild animals like foxes, porcupines, turtles and
hedgehogs. Here you can find beans, chick-peas, tomatoes, potatoes,
with whom you can prepare delicious dishes seasoned with olive oil and
tasted with the typical DOC local wine Est! Est!! Est!!! In this
resort the ancient usage and the customs of the past join perfectly
the most modern comforts and the hospitality of the nice apartments
that will welcome you according to the tradition.
Into the silence of the nature, you can listen birds singing while you
are relaxing into the outdoor pool surrounded by peaceful gardens and
by the amazing countryside and the wood. You can easily discover the
pleasure to have a rest in a holiday absorbed by the nature.
Those who are interested in walking open-air will easily run along the
ancient via Francigena, by horse, by feet or by bicycle. On the other
hand, those who love fishing could go to the Bolsena's Lake ( 4 Km
away) where they can make a trip by boat to visit Martana and
Bisentina islands.
If you want to make a very relaxing bath in the thermal water, you can
go to the “Bagnaccio” ( 10 Km far from Viterbo). Finally, if you want
to prepare a very unforgivable dinner you can cook some of the recipes
described in our website “Curiosities” section.
